The purpose of the list is to create awareness of our city’s architectural heritage at risk of demolition, destruction or irreparable damage. These historic buildings and sites contribute not only to Columbus history, but also to the character and identity of the community. Five of the 10 buildings are new to the 2017 list; five were featured on the 2016 list.

The Most Endangered Buildings were identified through public nomination, selected by Columbus Landmarks Advocacy Committee, and approved by its Board of Trustees. The list provides the organization with a priority work list for its efforts and helpS maintain the spotlight on the most threatened structures. The organization also announced publication of an active “watch list” of endangered buildings, monitoring the condition and status of 13 additional endangered buildings, and advocating for their preservation and reuse.  For the second year, Columbus Landmarks will host an Idea Competition seeking creative solutions and new uses for endangered buildings.
