Bus Tour Featuring Five Hilltop Churches

Columbus Landmarks invites you to explore the Hilltop neighborhood during its Illuminated Spaces: Sacred Places Tour on Sunday, June 29 from 2-5 p.m. The tour features five Hilltop churches focusing on their history, architecture and stained glass windows.
“The stained glass art featured in these historic churches ranges from very traditional to more modern interpretations,” said Doreen Uhas Sauer, Past President of Columbus Landmarks Foundation. “This tour will give participants the opportunity to learn the history of these churches, while providing a look behind the beautiful stained glass art that illuminates these structures.” One of the churches features fourteen Stations of the Cross done with a baked on glass technique. They were made in Germany and are one of only three sets like them in the world.
The tour, will consist of five stops: St. Aloysius, Hillcrest Baptist, Hoge Memorial Presbyterian, St. John’s Lutheran, and Hilltop Lutheran. All of the churches are located on Broad St. The tour begins at St. Aloysius, 2165 W. Broad. Participants will board a bus there to visit the other churches, returning to the starting point at 5 p.m.
Participants will be greeted by guides who will provide insight on the various art glass styles and techniques used to install the glass at each location. The stained glass windows range in date from late 19th through the 20th century.
The cost of the bus tour is $30 for non-members and $25 for members of Columbus Landmarks Foundation. Limited seating is available.
