Progressive Dinner Locations & Descriptions**
263-267 South Fifth Street’s elegant profiles have seen their share of change. For over 170 years, the Early Federal-style structures served as apartments for some of Columbus’ first residents. Famous tenants include visiting Legislators and even a former Speaker of the House. The properties are bordered by the former Zettler’s Hardware store which later became the first Woolworth’s in Columbus. The properties reside near Main Street, which was Columbus’ central business district during the 1890s. Renovated in 1998 by developer Mark W. Jones and architect Urban Order, the condominiums blend of historic and contemporary design is truly remarkable: open spaces showing off stunning cherry hardwood floors; exposed brick walls; multiple fireplaces; high ceilings; large windows; 20x24 outdoor living spaces and two car garages make these 19th century homes classics. Please join us for an evening of history and community. Your hosts for the evening are Mark & Wendy Jones, Shyam Rajadhyaksha, and William Thomas.
The Brunson Building Elegant urban living in a 12-story high rise that is gracious and creative all in the same breath. Enjoy an evening that truly combines the elegant with the “cool.” Experience eclectic downtown eateries …from Barrio to Brioso...in three exquisite homes. The award-winning building by Jonathan Barnes Architecture & Design has merged historic and modern into one truly unique architectural statement. Originally built in 1905, The Brunson Bank & Trust Building began as a historic turn-of-the-century showpiece. You are invited to enjoy three distinct homes: Sarah Freeman’s home is an art gallery, including sculptures and paintings by the late John Freeman, a Professor of Art at The Ohio State University. As owners of Functional Furnishings, Matthew and Susan Ungar’s condo is the cutting edge of Modern Design in Columbus. Mike and Yvonne Clemons’ condo is the empty nesters answer to swank. Enjoy a magnificent view of Broad and High from their condo and spacious terrace.
Neighborhood Launch is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary urban living spaces, like those found in Chicago and Boston; a first in Central Ohio.
The Condominiums at North Bank Park is Columbus’ newest upscale living environment. This 20-story luxury condominium building opened its doors to residents in December 2007. The all glass exterior building offers 360 degrees of unobstructed views of downtown Columbus from the banks of the SciotoRiver. Come to North Bank and experience living in a luxurious resort like setting. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of the 24-hour concierges and escorted to the home of Howard Goldstein and Michelle Bourgeois on the tenth floor where you will be treated not only to delicious hors d’oeuvres, but also stunning views of downtown, Huntington Park (home of the Columbus Clippers) and, if nature cooperates, a spectacular sunset. After dinner, a tour of some of the amenities that North Bank has to offer will include the private gym, multi-media theatre and rooftop grilling deck. After the tour, your evening will conclude in the home of Doug Bloss on the fourth floor. The after dark south views of the lamp post lit waters of the Scioto River at North Bank Park and the east views of the illuminated buildings of downtown are a must see.
Town Franklin Historic Neighborhood In addition to gleaming, dynamic condo buildings, City Hop also offers dining experiences in the elegant historic homes of the Town-Franklin Historic District. The evening will begin on historic brick-paved Franklin Avenue. Tree-shaded sidewalks, fanciful gardens and historic homes characterize this urban neighborhood. Cocktails and appetizers in the home and around the pool of Bob Klie and Michael Berton at 584 Franklin Avenue. This historic 1880’s school house is a work in progress blending old world and mid century modern sensibilities. A guided walk through one of the largest topiary gardens in the nation, located in DeafSchoolPark, will lead to the former carriage house-turned-private residence of noted historic preservationists Nancy Recchie & Jeff Darbee for dinner and dessert.
CityView at 3rd provides stunning views of the Columbus skyline, a community of friendly neighbors and a convenient location at the northern gateway to downtown Columbus, within walking distance to the best of downtown, the Arena District and the Short North. Originally constructed in 1920 as a shoe factory, the six-story brick CityView building at the corner of Third and Chestnut Streets was once owned by the family of developer Robert J. Weiler and at one time housed offices of Dearfoams slipper manufacturer R.G. Barry Corporation, developer Taggart Marryott Reardon, and various government agencies including the FBI. CityView now houses 48 one and two-bedroom, two-bath condominium units, complete with a community fitness room, conference room, basement storage units, and rooftop deck. The common areas are adorned with original paintings of familiar Columbus scenes by local artist Curtis Goldstein, including a stunning 10-foot mural in the main lobby that showcases CityView’s southern vista of the Columbus skyline. Your dinner hosts Robin Grant, Jim & Renee Schnug, and Tyler & Caroline Holtgreven invite you into their homes to toast downtown living, make new friends and experience CityView at 3rd.
Hartman Lofts Enjoy the evening with young, fun and dynamic professionals Tom Betti and Kelan & Amanda Craig. Built as a grand hotel in 1898, the Hartman served as Ohio Governor Andrew Harris's stylish residence while in office 1906-08. The Hartman was originally part of the large empire of Samuel Hartman, based on Peruna, his contribution to 19th century health and the largest-selling patent medicine of its day until banned from Indian reservations because of its excessive alcohol content. The Hartman also provided comfortable lodging for visiting dignitaries visiting Columbus, including President Theodore Roosevelt. With original decorative mahogany ceilings, both condos are located on the second floor where the hotel bar and Gentlemen's Smoking Room once was. Kelan & Amanda's condo overlooks historic Main Street with great views of Hawk Gallery. Your hosts for the night have over-the-top condos and are very excited to share the view. Come to the Hartman for a night of history, good wine and great food!
