Each year, Columbus Landmarks honors individuals and institutions that have made exceptional strides in promoting historic preservation and producing quality urban design in central Ohio. Columbus Landmarks bestows seven awards, including our President's Award and the prestigious James B. Recchie Design Award.
Our annual Awards Program will be held Thursday, October 14th at the location of our 2009 James B. Recchie Design Award winner - The Ohio State University’s newly renovated and expanded William Oxley Thompson Library at 1858 Neil Avenue. The event will take place in the West Reading Room on the second floor and will start promptly at 5:45 with wine and hors d’oeuvres. President Gordon Gee will be present to greet us and the program will commence at 6:15. We will conclude the Awards Program with dessert and champagne at 8pm.
Tickets for the reception and program are $65 buy tickets » A discount package of 4 tickets for $240 is also available. Students with identification are welcome and may attend for $10.
The following Awards will be bestowed:
• Outstanding Person
Honors an individual who has enhanced the cause of preservation in our community's built environment.
• Outstanding Group
Honors a neighborhood, community group, or association program or project that has significantly fostered the cause of preservation or improved the built environment, thereby enhancing quality of life in our community.
• Dixie Sayre Miller Patron
Honors an institution or individual whose commitment and support has reached beyond the ordinary in the cause of preservation & improvement of our built environment.
• Paul E. Young, Jr. Student Award
Honors a student or group of students for a program or project that has significantly fostered the cause of historic preservation or improved the built environment, thereby enhancing the quality of life in our community.
• Henry L. Hunker Urban Legacy Award
Henry Hunker had a special understanding of the urban environment from his education and work as an urban geographer. He understood that what we have today is the result of the physical, economic, social and cultural forces that have shaped our city. The Urban Legacy Award honors those who love and appreciate the urban environment, in its broadest definition, and work tirelessly to improve it.

A juried award that honors a building, parkland, public interior or landscape that has made a significant impact within the past five years. Acknowledges building owners & promotes the work of design professionals who shape our built environment.
