Our organization is very fortunate to have founding members who are actively involved in preservation in Columbus today. We’re also fortunate to have an army of supporters including current and former trustees, volunteers, members and myriad supporters from over the years. This event is an opportunity to hear firsthand, from some of those who were there, the story of the tragic loss of the 1897 Daniel Burnham designed Union Station and the subsequent fight to save the remaining Arch … and move it twice! Columbus Landmarks was founded from this effort and today we stand on the shoulders of these individuals who recognized that buildings, landscapes and public art provide a sense of identity and community, inspire creativity and enrichment, and contribute to revitalization, sustainability and economic development.

Franklin Conaway, Bob Loversidge, Jeff Darbee & Nancy Recchie (Jeff & Nancy are pictured above!) will share what they were up against in 1977 and how it impacted their lives and careers.

This is a free event for members. Whether you were with us from the beginning or are brand new to our organization or Columbus, we hope you will join our friendly cause and help us celebrate four decades of advocating for historic preservation and quality new design in Columbus! Columbus Landmarks will provide dessert. We encourage you to bring whatever else you may need for a lovely summer evening in the park … including your friends & family!
