Get to Know Southern Orchards
As part of our three-year strategic plan, we have identified five neighborhoods that have experienced disinvestment in the past and that could benefit from more historic preservation. These neighborhoods include the South Side, Hilltop, Milo-Grogan, Linden, and King-Lincoln-Bronzeville. On Feb. 1 and Preservation Director and architect Susan Keeny, kicked off the program and met with the Southern Orchards Civic Association, on the city’s South Side, to learn more about the community, introduce members to Columbus Landmarks, and to explain the resources we can provide as the neighborhood continues revitalization efforts. The community is known for its charming, walkable streets filled with early 20th century wood-framed and brick houses. Revitalization can be seen throughout as a result of programs sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital, to the north, and through the hard work and commitment of residents and neighborhood associations.
